VISION:  To develop the passion and skills of students to succeed in the marketplace and life so they are productive members of society who make their lives and the lives of others better. To achieve this vision we:
  • Stimulate economic thinking skills
  • Encourage creative, intelligent risk-taking
  • Provide practical business experience, and
  • Instill independence and personal responsibility
MISSION:  To equip young entrepreneurs through engagement, training, mentoring and community partnerships.
 
GOALS:
  1. Provide the knowledge needed to start and maintain a business
  2. Help students understand how to apply that knowledge and succeed
  3. Provide the resources and opportunity to become a registered business owner
STUDENT OUTCOMEThe program is designed for middle and high school students who want to explore the world of business. Students receive practical, hands-on training from business advisors and local business leaders. If completed properly, student will have a registered business.

Deadline for complete Application Packet is Dec 1 by 5 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Chamber Office, 300 W. Houston Street, Historic Downtown Cedar Hill.

Youth Entrepreneurs will be chosen and notified by Dec 5.  Only 24 will be accepted.

Final payment of $175 is due by Dec 15 to receive $20 discount or payment of $195 is due by Dec 22.

CUSTOMIZED PROGRAM BASED ON COURSE MODEL:   Launching a New Business by Northwood University
 
TIME AND LOCATION FOR THE CLASS:
  • Afterschool non-credit course meeting Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm from Jan ? May
    • Jan 13, 20, 27                   
    • Feb 3, 10, 17, 24
    • Mar 3, 17, 24, 31             
      • * skipping 10th ? Spring Break
    • Apr 7, 14, 21, 28
    • May 5, 12, 19
  • Students are urged to work their business through the summer and are invited to participate in the Taste of CH and Business Expo in Sept 2015
  • Classes will be held at Northwood University in the Swallwell Student Union which provides access to a computer lab, and larger spaces for the Investor Panel Event, the CEO Roundtable, and other events that take place.
  • Field Trips are scheduled and transportation will be provided.
PARTNERSHIP LEADERS INCLUDE:
  • Amber Hatley will serve as Program Champion to ensure the community, investors and entrepreneurs have an incredible experience.
  • Amanda Skinner will serve as Program Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the program, or identify a small team and divide up various responsibilities.
  • Steve Hendon will serve as Curriculum Chair along with several other Instructors.
